Plantar Fasciitis is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole.
It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot by the overstrain of the plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and inflamed. Sometimes small tears may also occur. This will cause severe pain.
In Ayurveda it can be considered as Vatakantaka, resulting due to kaphavatavitiation. Here Acharyas explained the pain is like pricking with a thorn (kantaka).
A suitable herbal paste is applied to the heel till it gets dry. When dry it is removed using lukewarm water. This process is repeated many times a day.
